2019 Honda Pilot vs 2019 Toyota 4RUNNER

Serving Murfreesboro, TN

The Pilot gets top ratings for the broad array of features that it offers, including a stylish, spacious, and tech-savvy cabin, safety, smooth and comfortable handling, and impressive fuel economy. The 4Runner has fewer safety amenities, a stiffer ride quality, and a taller step-in height that can make entering and exiting the vehicle more difficult.

Interior

There are many good reasons to get the 2019 Honda Pilot. But one of the tops is its comfortable, spacious, and tech-savvy interior. The Pilot gets new technology features this year, including an updated infotainment system, which is more user-friendly than ever. Seats in the 2019 Pilot are spacious and comfortable, and there is no shortage of storage room with the huge trunk and various storage compartments. The Pilot has three versatile rows of seats, with the third row folding flat to maximize space for passengers or cargo. Features like tri-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and leather seats come standard on select trim levels. The Pilot gets much in the way of standard technology too, including a variety of driver-assist safety aids.

In comparison, the 2019 4Runner does not have many standard driver-assist aids. Instead, you'll have to pay extra for them, which can add on quite a bit to the cost of the car. The Honda also has a more comfortable ride quality compared to the 4Runner and a more refined cabin.

Performance

Another area where the Honda excels is the fuel economy and performance. The Pilot comes with two choices of transmission, which are a six-speed and a nine-speed. The nine-speed transmission is smoother-shifting this year, but the six-speed transmission still reigns supreme for ultimate driving comfort. The 2019 Honda Pilot is powered by a 3.5L, six-cylinder engine that generates up to 280 HP at 6,000 RPM. This engine can be paired with either the six-speed or nine-speed transmission. In either case, it provides the Pilot with some of the best fuel efficiency in its class. The Pilot gets excellent fuel efficiency, especially when compared to other vehicles in its class. The car is offered with either all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. The 4Runner, on the other hand, has a highway fuel efficiency that it is about 6-7 gallons below what you'll find with the 2019 Pilot. Its drivetrain options are rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive.

Safety

If you're looking for a safe SUV, the 2019 Honda Pilot is a good option. Honda is known for equipping its cars with a long list of standard and available safety amenities, and the Pilot is no different. The Pilot gets an advanced airbag system, which helps to keep occupants safe if the car is involved in a collision. As for driver-assist safety features, the Pilot gets a suite of amenities in the Honda Sensing safety system, which includes road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and collision avoidance.
