At Honda of Murfreesboro, we are thrilled to introduce the 11th generation of the Honda Civic. This popular compact car has been offered in both sedan and hatchback body styles for years, and both options are available in the next-generation version for the 2022 model year. While the two body styles are similar in many ways when you compare them on a trim-by-trim basis, you will find a few differences between them that could help you to finalize your selection.
The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered with four trim levels, and the sedan version has five trim levels. Both trim lines start with the LX. This option has a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter gas engine that produces 158 horsepower and a continuously variable transmission. Stepping up the trim lineup, both body styles are available with the Sport trim. However, the Civic Sport hatchback is available with your choice of a six-speed manual transmission. The Civic EX sedan and the Civic EX-L hatchback are the next options available. They are available with a four-cylinder, turbo 1.5-liter engine that produces 180 horsepower. The Civic Touring sedan and the Civic Sport Touring hatchback have the same engine, but the Sport Touring hatchback comes with the option of a six-speed manual transmission. At the top of the Civic Sedan’s trim line is the Si. It is available with a turbo 1.5-liter, 200-horsepower engine, and a six-speed manual transmission.
The four-door hatchback and the sedan for 2022 are visually similar in many ways. Their noses are identical with angled LED headlights, a thin grille, and a three-part lower fascia. The hatchback and sedan have different side profiles to accommodate different body styles. However, both options have angled accents running across the side panels and a molded lower element. At the rear, the sedan’s trunk is well-defined, and it is topped with a spoiler in select trim levels. The hatchback has a liftgate-style trunk and slightly more aggressive taillights.
The two Civic body styles have almost identical features in their corresponding trims. The features in higher trim levels are:
Honda Sensing® technologies are offered with both body styles. Depending on the trims being compared, these features could include low-speed auto-braking, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, and blind-spot monitoring.
